Early Development Classes for Children

The preschool classroom is generally a lively environment where kids play, explore, and lay the foundation for their future academic experiences. At the preschool age, children are excited to learn in an active environment with a group setting, where new social and learning experiences abound. At Celebrity Kids Club, children in our preschool classrooms are exposed to a wide range of subject areas with experienced teachers skilled in guiding the intellectual, emotional, and social growth of young students. Why Preschool is Important

Preschool is a formative time for young students since it takes place at an age when children are capable of learning lots of new information each day. Preschool-aged kids are also developing their social skills, so it is important to have frequent interaction with peers to build friendships and learn to work cooperatively. Here’s a closer look at the specific areas where preschool is monumental to your child’s development and future academic success:

  • Social development – Many lessons in the preschool are taught in a group setting, as kids are encouraged to share materials, work together, and communicate effectively to complete projects. This social learning environment can be integral to your child’s confidence and communication skills.
  •

  • Pre-Academic Skills – While much of the curriculum in preschool is taught through play and movement, it is still very important for the development of academic skills in the more traditional classroom environment of grade school. Children begin to learn the building blocks of writing, reading, math, and science through fun and exciting games and presentations that will keep their attention with age-appropriate content that will be fundamental for learning on a deeper level later on.
  •

  • Gaining independence – The first day of preschool may be a big landmark for both you and your child since it will be your child’s introduction into the school environment, where he or she will grow as an individual and gain the skills needed to become independent.
  •

What Children Do in Preschool

Our preschool educators will offer students a variety of activities during the day in the subject areas of literature, drama, dance, computers, and sign-language, in addition to the fundamental curriculum that will build skills for future learning. Many activities will include social interaction, but kids will also have the chance to work on their own to explore subjects that interest them most.

What Is Pre-K?

You may have heard the term “pre-kindergarten” or “Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)” before, but many parents aren’t familiar with the purpose or benefits of pre-k. Pre-kindergarten programs are daily classes and activities specifically designed for pre-kindergarteners, typically around age four. These activities, while fun and creative, are focused on preparing attendees for future success in their academic endeavors. Pre-K activities include projects, games, and experiences that teach pre-reading, pre-math, pre-language, and pre-social skills, encouraging children to find wonder in the world around them and develop enjoyment in the learning process. Activities may also promote both teamwork or independent thought, as well as problem-solving, categorization, and mental focus. Overall, studies have consistently shown that children who attend pre-k develop better math and reading skills during their first few years of school than those who don’t have the benefit of these structured and supportive programs at home. From age four to five, children undergo remarkable growth across all developmental areas. Pre-K education supports a child’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Every child progresses at a unique pace, but in general, you can expect a four-year-old to be at the following milestones:

  • Gross motor skills – Your child can run in a relatively controlled manner, hop on one foot, and do somersaults. Your child can bounce, catch, and throw a ball. Your child can bathe, dress, comb hair, and brush teeth with minimal assistance.
  •

  • Fine motor skills – Your child can copy basic shapes, use dining utensils, and print some letters. Your child can use child-safe scissors to cut on a line.
  •

  • Language and literacy – Your child has about a 1,500-word vocabulary and can speak in sentences that are relatively complex. Your child can recognize some letters and familiar word signs, such as a “stop” sign.
  •

  • Cognitive development – Your child understands the concept of past, present, and future, and can usually understand the differences between fantasy and reality. Your child can compare larger and smaller objects, recognize patterns, and begin to think logically.
  •

  • Socio-emotional development – Your child can share, take turns, and cooperate with others. Your child can begin to express feelings verbally.
  •

Activities

Preschoolers are active young learners who learn by activating their senses. At CKC, we provide an early childhood education curriculum that supports a preschooler’s need to explore. Your child will be busy learning both indoors and outdoors.
Preschoolers work on their gross motor skills in our large, well-equipped secure playground. Running, jumping, and climbing in a safely supervised area are crucial activities for physical development, including skills such as balance and coordination.
Preschoolers need a language-rich environment to support their rapidly growing vocabularies. Our early childhood educators guide young learners in practicing their listening, speaking, and pre-reading skills through fun songs and engaging picture books.
In the preschooler years, a child’s creative expression is exuberant. Singing, dancing, enjoying finger plays, coloring, and painting are all encouraged here in our toddler room.

For preschoolers, early mathematics means learning the colors, shapes, and numbers. At CKC, we make pre-math fun for tiny tots with hands-on activities like puzzles and exciting games.

Our staff supports preschoolers’ growing need for independence. We encourage age-appropriate self-care activities like learning how to put away toys and wash the hands.
